 Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese method of arranging things such that good energy remains inside and outside to enrich our lives and add to our happiness.  We can learn much from other cultures.

How To Force Some Bulbs into Early Bloom

There is much fun in watching a bulb sprout leaves, set buds, and observing buds slowly open one at a time into lovely flowers. Rather like a slow moving video show, except it is right there in your own home, grown just by you for everyone to enjoy.

 Think about making yourself a delightful gift for January, just because it is 2012.  A few Narcissus bulbs are still available in some Farm and Garden stores that are loose in a box to personally select. Ziva tazetta is a good variety to grow this way, called forcing. Continue reading

Our mailboxes are full of catalogs. Grab a cup of hot tea and start browsing through them to see plants and seeds available for 2012.  Have a marker available to highlight the veggies and flowers to consider for this year’s garden.  I love this time of year, gray days are happy days to plan our gardens for a sunnier time. Ken Soergel designs and builds a water feature

  It is amazing how new residents  enrich the lives of persons in a city with their personalities, talents and skills.  Ken and Jean Soergel arrived in Jonesborough several years ago and were immediately absorbed in the activities here. Ken earned a Landscape Architect Degree from Harvard University, and although retired from his own landscape and design business in the Pittsburgh, PA area, he brought his computer and design programs to Jonesborough to continue working.
